Welcome to AC! Were pretty close, I'm about 30 minutes north of you.

I highly recommend the rams! One of my favorite fish. Maybe a few corys and some type of schooling fish. Kuhli loaches would be okay in there if you have your heart set on loaches, they stay at about 4 inches. Clown loaches will outgrow your tank and they prefer to be in schools of about 6+.

I breed my discus in 29g's... its plenty of room for them really, i also grow mine out in semi hard water.

Never hurts add some meds, or at least salt.

Oh i forgot, you can get hikari first bites from most of your lfs. I get mine from jack's pets, you may not have one around you thow.

Its been while since ive raised bettas but i feed them microworms and hikari first bites like BFM said. You can take the male out once they are free swimming, unless he tries to eat them, then remove him immediately.
