There really is no such thing as a saltwater planted tank, is there?

Actually its doable, several attractive looking macro algaes exist that would look good in a display tank, would work best in seahorse or pipefish setups. Don't try it with tangs or angels they'll eat macro's that supposedly inedible to fish.

Really? Do you have any specific species of macro algae I could research?

I do like the idea of a seahorse tank, as far as looks are concerned, but I don't know about pipefish. They just look weird to me.

I don't foresee any stocking that includes tangs (I'd like to keep them in a tank large enough for them to have a lot of room to roam), but I may consider a dwarf angel, since, when I set up a reef, it'll be 55 or 75 gallons. Mostly, I want a pair of clowns, a yellow coris wrasse (or two) some neon blue gobies, some mollies, and some banggai cardinals.

A planted, sort of, marine tank. Might be interesting.

Botryocladia, Gracilaria, Ochtodes, heterosiphona, different calupera's some grow to fast for display tank unless you want to trim often, same with some halimedia's, shaving brush, mermaid fan, turtle grass, shoal grass. eucheuma,

Dwarf angel will eat some of those though.

Display fuge's are all the rage, even macro algae dominated tanks; in fact, that is what this tank grew out of (a Macro 6 gal)

If I wasn't attached to a couple of the fish in them I probably would of taken them down by now 40b and 29g so you can imagine how often i've thought display tank and sump.

I have 3 planted 29's (love the dimensions)

Great list. I have blue ochtodes in this tank. You also need to watch out for crabs, some snails, tangs, and others that like to much on algae
