If you feel more comfortable getting a "Letter of No Jurisdiction" then you may submit an application for a permit and they will send you one.

You should now be able to ship baby pomecea bridgesii/diffusa snails and clutches once again. This is also good news for those people who wanted to ship permitted snails but didn't want to go through the lengthy permit application process. You will still need to contact USDA/aphis if you wish to import permitted snail into the country (and yes, this means any shipments from Canada). If they catch a shipment coming in without a permit they will toss the animals into an incinerator.
This is interesting, but it should probably be pointed out that it is not an announcement by the USDA/APHIS; it is only a report by an individual about a conversation with another individual who works for the USDA/APHIS giving her opinion of what may/will happen at some point in the future.

Pbgroupie is one of the staff members of applesnail.net. Applesnail.net cooperates with the USDA. I do not see how her report however it was worded makes a difference when the said individual already confirmed the changes of the legislation. If there was a difference at all, then she would never have shared to the whole invert community what was told to her by an authority of the USDA unless USDA told her it was not confirmed yet.

Okay. I wouldn't have interpreted it that way.
It makes me wonder why they would bother making a formal announcement.
Probably so they don't get an influx of questions concerning renewing permits, shipping rules, etc. Why not just answer it all in one blow?

Well, they're not answering it in one blow, if people within the organisation are releasing the information months before any formal announcement.

Folks, check this announcement for permit reapplication emails. Please note this is only a warning that you may receive emails regarding your permits expiring so be sure to read thoroughly and don't be quick to jump and panick they are issuing permits again because they are not.

If apple snails are so dangerous, why do people feel such a strong need to keep them in the hobby? There's other snails out there...
