My kid won a rosy minnow last Halloween at a carnival our church was having. I had an unused 10g, some filter plates laying around from a failed experiment, and a small powerhead that fit the pickup tube. I started out with the standard air pump setup, but the pump was old and thus noisy. I switched to the powerhead and it has been working well ever since. So, does anyone else still have a tank running this old school setup?

Got one in our 55 gallon - just downsized our FW tank this week from the 180 to a 55. The 180 is not going to have a UGF anymore once it is switched over to salt.

I haven't run a bubble powered UGF since the late 1980s. If I were to run one again, it would be in reverse.

UGF are not bad, just as long as you do regular "gravel vacs", ect. A bubble powered UGF (IMO) is not very good, but a PH driven is OK.

Up until I downsized and gave away 10 tanks, I ran UGF and RUGF on 9 of my tanks. As stated, they work great.
