Keep at it....plenty of WCs to keep him on the mend.....don't over feed...and grow him out to a good size before moving. Your on the right track.

How much should I feed him? He wants to eat all the time like 3 times a day. I just give him a little at a time and a variety of foods. There is so much conflicting info out there. I don't know which site to trust :) any ebjd site that has good info that I can actually use?

A good source...

http://www.capitalcichlids.org/forums/

As well at MFK....

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/

Feed 3-5 times a day, remove uneaten food after 5-10 minutes....pop eye is basically a water quality issue....hopefully with your watchful eye you can nurse him into good health. Often, over breeding can cause some genetic issues that may show up later. And he didn't get a good start with that breeder, IMO. Jack's can go either way...passive or aggressive.. always been that way even if not an EB. Wish you all the best. Keep us informed, please.

I'm posting some pictures. I did some research and Epsom salt is a laxative and api salt makes them retain water. So I put him in a 10g hospital tank so I can dose the melafix and Epsom and water changes twice a day.IMG_20150904_224043141.jpg IMG_20150904_224045676.jpg IMG_20150904_224036924.jpg IMG_20150904_223940433.jpg

I have been dosing daily with Melafix daily. I have been adding Epsom salt to the water every time I do a water change. His water is perfect. He is eating great, the only thing about that is he doesn't really seem to know where the food is unless it's directly in front of his face. He often misses when he goes to get a taste. I noticed his left eye where the black spot is in the pics above is starting to get more noticeable. It's kind of protruding on top of the popeye, almost like another bubble on top of the eye. I am posting more pics so you can see what I am talking about.

Thanks,

It may take a while longer for things to shape up. And you never know, there could be some permanent damage.I'd back off on the Epsom a bit...always thought of it as more of a dip than consistent use.
