Mbuna tankmates

75 gallon, definately getting Yellow Labs and Rustys. I am thinking of adding a 3rd type, I was thinking Acei but they may get bigger than I want, I like the OB blueberry zebra but I know they are more agressive and also may breed with my labs maybe like an albino Socofoli ? (spelling bad )

any suggestions ?

The albino (or not albino) Socolofi would make a nice addition to your tank. Would add a nice blue (or white) addition to it.

so im having some trouble finding a good deal on the Rusty's. So I am no looking at 8 Yellow Labs, 6 Blue Socolofi, 6 Albino Socolofi.

do the blue and albino's breed with eachother ? and if so is that considered a hybrid ?

I found an auction on aquabid where I can get 12 yellow lab fry 3/4 inch. I still dont have the main tank fully ready yet, I do have the 5 gallon fry tank ready and most likely could have my 26 bowfront ready in a few days.

is the 5 gallon to small for 3/4 inch fry ?

12 3/4 fry is a little tight for a 5gal. As a temp tank, OK, but not for more then a few days.

Socolosi breeding with Socolosi would not be a hybrid. The gene would still be pure. I would not have 2 breeding groups of Socolosi though, because the males would fight.

I've got water in the 26 gallon bowfront, checking for leaks, didnt expect to have any, will get it cleaned up. giving a jumpstart to my 2nd AC70's media by putting it in my filters that are running on my 75 gallon currently

Keep us posted! Looks like I am setting up a new tank for my folks (and tearing down their old one) in the next few weeks; I have *ahem,* I mean THEY have decided to do an Mbuna tank as well. Good luck!

I am rethinking my stocking list. thinking of a few different options.

6 yellow labs
6 Clown Lab - Labidochromis chisumulae
6 albino socolofi
6 maingano
or
8 yellow labs
8 clown labs
8 maingano

I think the 2 lab species will cross breed. So I am thinking the first one, but with only one Lab species.
