So after years of looking at ...I finally purchased 2 2217's for my tank.
I know I must be overlooking something easy, but how to attach the spray?????
There 2 little u bends in older pictures , mine came without.

Just cut a short length of the output hose to connect the shepherd's hook shaped output pipe to the spray bar. One to 1-1/4 inches should be more than enough.

so you still have not figured a way to attach the spray bar. I can say on the 2217 I have the solid tube that fits over the rim of the tank. You have to add a piece of hose then push the spray bar into the other end. Not sure if the newer models have been redesigned.

Did you receive any hard plastic tubing with your filters? If not, you are probably missing the necessary parts to connect the intake and output hoses to your aquarium.

No I did not receive those. I looked at older pics of the 2217 they show the small bend pieces I think you are talking about.
I purchased 2 filters both are the same.
Just the shepards hook outflow tube and a spray bar.
The outflow tube sticks out way to far to get a bend to mount the spray bar on the back of the tank.
I think some one at eheim made a mistake.

OK, did you get this part #4014050? It is called an elbow connector.

and this part #4014300 called a slotted hose elbow/sleeve.

If you did, part #4014300 is used to get the output hose over the tank rim; just squeeze the output hose into the slotted hose elbow/sleeve piece, leaving enough hose sticking out into the aquarium to insert the elbow connector part #4014050. You will then attach the spray bar to the elbow connector with a short piece of the output hose.

Hope this helps you figure it out. Let us know if this answers your question.

Okay it looks like you have the solid hang on piece that came with mine 10 years ago. I actually preferred that piece over part #4014300. But see if you can post a better picture.

Thanks for the pic, can you post a clear pic of the end of that part out of the water? You can turn the filter off to avoid getting water everywhere.

It almost looks like the wide jet style outlet which does not allow a spray bar to be attached.
