My niece left for college this morning and unbeknownst to me plopped her Betta in my 10G quarantine tank. The tank was empty (just ended quarantine on some rainbows 2 days ago). Poor thing just sits on bottom of tank for last 2 days. He did eat though. I keep thinking he's dead but he moves if I prompt him! Any clue what's wrong? PH swing? Water parameters are fine. Any guesses?

boredom possibly. There is also the chance that his fitness level is low so doing something is exhausting so he rests on the bottom to recover. This might be the case if he was kept in a tank with no water movement.

If he was in a poor environment and your quarantine tank has good water quality then there is the possibility of shock from the change. Also the change in environment itself could have stressed him.

Maybe it's just the fact that it's a new tank and needs some getting used to?
Good luck!
