Ok so I just got two beautiful baby angels friday in my 55gal. and they are hiding on one side of the tank. There is a huge peice of driftwood that they hide behind and they wont come out. They dont eat when I feed the fish...Idk if they are scared of the bright lights on the otehr side of the tank or what. I don't have any big fish...the biggest fish is a dwarf grouami. Any suggestions?
 
a little time and some live food should do it lol. Mine soon came out when they had live food, and now they dont even rush away when i get close to the tank.
 
i don think keeping dwarf gourami with angels is such a good idea , they will fight our the territory ,
angels will take maybe a few days to adjust them selves to new tank , specially cute baby angels , they get stressed so easily , ask the other guys here about keepin angels and dwarf gourami , they have more experience than me ...

Angels will take time to get used to the surrounding and the food you give.Wait patiently and they will come out sooner or later since they have empty stomachs.
 
It's pretty typical for angle to be shy. give them a few days ..they will eventually recognize you as a food source.. they typically have large appetites.. but they do not like change to their surroundings.


what are you feeding them?
 
Hey everybody I knew I posted a thread about my angels hiding but I couldn't find it again until just now. Well tonight i've been studing for a test and I noticed one of my baby angels actually swam across the tank and stayed on the other side for about 5 min. It was pretty cool. The other just stayed behind the wood. The are comming out in front of the wood more. They stay towards the top of the water line but when I feed them they don't eat. I am feeding flake food for now. I'm am going to be getting more food soon from another member. I haven't seen them eat yet so I'm kind of scared that they aren't going to make it.

Quick question. I have this pregnant female swordtail, she is huge and full grown. Anyways I have her in my Killifish tank so they could eat the fry...should I put her back into the tank with the angels so maybe they will eat the fry or do you think they would leave them alone? I did have two pregnant swordtails but one jumped out of the tank two days ago...she was only a couple of days away from giving birth too :(. Anyways my angels are only about quarter size. They are so beautiful that I want them to stay alive.

I don't mind putting the pregnant swordtail back in with the angels if they are going to eat the fry. My killies are eating flakes like pigs!

Please let me know about where to put the pregnant swordtail, I believe she is only a couple of days away from giving birth. Also do you think my other fish will eat the fry? Rasboras, Albino Cories, Dwarf Gourami, 1 male swordtail and of corse the two angels. Thanks!
 
Your angels are eating after lights out.the are eating very small amonts of food and what's called infusion.IMHO I would siphon off the sword fry and and feed the baby angels as full size female swords are big enough to fin nip lil angels pretty badly
 
BTW you can do gouramis and angels.half dollar size angels would be ok and keep a balance of gouramis to angels
 
Well bad news everyone. I woke up this morning and found that one of my angels was dead and the other is dying. I didn't have the time to take the dying angel and let them go in peace. I'm really mad because they were so beautiful. I think something was wrong with them because the LFS had just got their stock in that day I bought them and out of prob. over a hundred little angels, there was only 3 with the zebra coloring. And I got the two best looking of the 3. I was happy last night because I saw that one swim over to the other side of the tank. I've never had these problems with fish before. I don't think anything was picking on them just because the gourami would go hangout with them behind the wood some but never nip.

Well I'm not getting anymore angels....I only like angels of that zebra color and they are very hard to find around here. The local breeders only have the white and black marble coloring strains.

Its so sad, they were so beautiful. Anyways thanks guys for all your help!
