That staurogyne repens looks like tissue culture portions which explains the lanky growth. Just give them time to settle in and once they are well rooted just clip them down as needed (leave a few leaves and a bit of stem on the trimmed ends), and replant any trimmings.
I have several types of medicated fish food for sale. These are 10g packs which are enough to do a treatment cycle or two on the average tank.
See pic for size reference.

Algae thrives on imbalances. When you add high light to the system, the demand for ferts and co2 goes up accordingly. If you can't meet those needs adequately, algae often takes a foothold. It's more about focusing on what makes the plants happy since algae is always going to be there waiting...
Your best bet is to get a replacement bulb around the daylight spectrum (6500kish), although just replacing the bulb can only do so much. If you really want to kick things up you should look into buying a new fixture for the tank. A 55g tank can be well lit by a cheap 2x54w t5ho setup, these...
It depends on what kind of tank it's going on. Low light plants does not mean that they have to have low light to thrive, but that they will tolerate lower light than other plants. So in most cases more light is better.
Not bad. The algae thing may get out of control but being on the porch in relative shade will help a lot. I ran one 40b outside with no filtration and just plants and a few mosquitofish and it worked out fine although the hair algae went out of control after a while. I now have a greenhouse...
Yup, it IS an algaecide. Glutaraldehyde is used to sterilize medical equipment so the side effect of being an algaecide also carries over to more primitive plant forms like vals. Not sure about hornwort.
Are you talking about growing emersed? I have don ea few dry starts and I like them best because the plants fill in faster. Check out the link in my sig, I have a greenhouse setup that is growing aquatic plants above water (and some below).
The important thing with composting is to put a mix of stuff in there, aquatic/pond plants are fine, I grow out azolla for this purpose in particular since it fixes nitrogen.
There's a bunch more videos on the channel and new ones coming up every few days. I think the next one is going to be 'the best way to do a water change', go subscribe ppl :D
