I have jungle val for the back and dwarf sag for the front. I don't have enough to fill two 55 gallons. the Val grows pretty fast, the sag would take some time to fill in (though not as long as other things.) I could give you 10 of each for $25 shipped

I basically screwed them onto some wood boards, and attached lightswitches to the top. I can get some pictures sometime if that would help.

More updates Another update for no good reason. I've added some fish in the past few months, and gone through a fight with ich. Not sure I'm entirely in the clear from that yet. So now there are 4 glowlight tetras and 2 harlequin rasboras, in addition to the fish I already had in there...

I built my hood out of two (two bulbs each) t8 shoplight fixtures from lowes. it's not pretty but it works.

I would not dose anything else before the new lights. 2 more T8s should give you pretty good light. I use that setup on my 55 gallon.
