Jim are you on facebook? There is a West African Cichlid group there that can probably accurately ID your fish with closeup photos.

If they are H. Cristatus they are on the C.A.R.E.S. preservation list as a vulnerable species. Would be cool if you got good #'s from 3 spawns.

My experience has been opposite, but then I don't have 30 only 20, so I'll probably have a lot to learn in 10 years. :)

Hey thanks for the heads up. Now I know when my kids are older all electronic devices will be turned in before bedtime. I thank you. My kids will not. :)

You're oscar will never be able to handle the JD. If the JD decides to kill him, he will. Oscars are not aggressive by cichlid standards and should be housed with other non aggressive cichlids and large fish or alone.

Yeah he was a little too fast for her. Though at one point she had her jaws clamped onto one of his larger bristles. lol

I have a 4 inch female Convict who claimed a cave in the tank. I also have a 6 inch male Bristlenose who was reintroduced into the 55g today who decided to try and take the cave. No one was hurt but it was interesting to watch...
Well, here's an update for you. I lost one of my pairs to camallanus worms in February, I sold one of my two surviving pairs about 2 weeks ago, the day after I sold them my remaining male died, then the female died 3 days later. I am officially without any of my original three pairs. The end.

Get them yet? "Wise Man's Fear" is pretty good. It's funny, because it pulls you in so well, when I'm working I keep thinking about the book wondering what is going to happen to Kvothe now. lol I read for about 4 hours last night. I'd have it finished by now but I have four young kids who...
I used to read those every year since for about 10 years. It's still a great series though, you should give it a read, you'll like it. The writing style is a little older, but still good.
Yeah those are good. I've read all of those. I've also read his Alvin Maker series. First book "Seventh Son", GREAT series, kind of an alternate American history where magic exists.
I've found some interesting reads at the second hand bookstore just perusing the shelfs and reading cover jackets. I read a book called "Radix" by A.A. Attanasio. Started out kind of weird but ended up being a pretty cool book. Google it.
You guys ever read the series based on Frazetta's Death Dealer? It was actually pretty good, kind of Conan-esque. I think it was written with James Silke. It's out of print and copies might be hard to find, but definitely worth a read. First book is "Prisoner of the Horned Helmet".
I'm always looking for new things to read. Check out George RR Martin for sure. His books are epic. They're actually releasing an HBO series based on his books this year I believe. It's called Fire & Ice. The first book in the series is "A Game of Thrones" there series is called "A Song of...
Heck yeah, great book! As soon as I finish book 10 of Steven Erikson I'll be starting Wise Man's Fear. I was also pretty excited because the day I got both books in the mail (Thursday) they announced the release date for George RR Martin's "A Dance with Dragons" which is July 12, and if you've...
Oh sweet. Ok, best series ever, Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson. I'm getting book 10 The Crippled God which was released yesterday in the mail tomorrow from Amazon. It's about 10,000 pages total story from book 1 to 10. Awesome story. George R.R. Martin is good if you don't...
