It took my discus male a few months longer than the female to stop eating the eggs... maybe they just mature slower. At any rate he figured it out at about the 12 month old mark. Good luck!

I have kept platies with female bettas in the past with no issues. Pretty much ignore each other. But I have also kept bettas with shrimp... and that didn't work out so well. Shrimp are tasty and although they are fast... bettas are sneaky little things, so move the shrimp out, or the betta will!
