I have a green spotted puffer. The figure 8 puffer is slightly less agressive but as he grows larger dont be surprised if some of your fish go missing. As for salinity figure 8 puffers need about 1.005 since they are low brackish. I have a marimo ball in my tank now. They can handle around 1.005...
My boyfriend has both CPOs and shrimp. I can barely see the shrimp in the tank but I am a real fan of the CPOs. I agree with Dwarfpuffers and start with the shrimp, but def dont give up the the CPO they may be expensive but they are really bright and have great personalities.
I am not sure if you have your heart set on a cichlid or not, but you could put a figure 8 puffer in a 30 long. They are full of personality and will great you. My green spotted puffer makes acroaking sound when hes hungry. Figure 8 are also low end brackish, you could used african rift lake...
I dont know much about ponds, but I know in a tank most of the bacteria is in the gravel and the filter. I am not sure but I dont think that the water would be a big help.
I would try to seed the filter. Try to go to a LFS and ask for a handful of gravel or something from there tanks. If you get the gravel put it in a nylon sock and place it in your filter. This can help with the cycle. That white stuff my be calcium build up. I get it all the time in my puffer...
Oh I didnt really think about the fact that it was a chemical. I will probably return it then. My puffer is really sensitive to that kind of stuff. Thanks
Hi. I dont know much about building aquariums or anything, but would it be possible to replace that back panel with acrylic? I dont know if that would be more expensive but its a thought.
Thanks. I stopped by the LFS today and found a phosphate remover by Hagen. I am going to give it a try and see if anything improves. I also bought a bigger gravel vac so I could clean the gravel better. Hopefully this will improve with the diatoms.
I have a 30 long aquarium. I got this tank off craigslist and it came with a broken Tetra EX70. The main tube was broken but I fixed it with some aquarium silicone. This morning the tube broke again but now its unfixable. I have an old aqueon 20 or 30 on it right now, but the impeller is busted...
I agree with sublux. I tried it and it didnt work, my cycle took almost two months. Most of the stuff I have read about the instant cycles say that they may work but it can make the tank more unstable. I would just stick to the onld fashion way and maybe go to your LFS and get some used filter...
