Hey Now!
I made one for my 46 bowfront and I love it, makes the aquarium IMHO. I made mine from a combination of pink foam board insulation, spray foam, cement and tinted drylock paint. I will be starting one for my 90 gallon soon and it will be only foam and tinted drylock. Do a google search...
I will be installing a 3D background on this tank so I don't know about a HOB as I would like to keep all hardware out of site. Worse case I will leave provisions for another canister. I'm not sure on the fish yet but It may be a Peacock/Hap tank with perhaps a few Mbuna.
I will be running a canister rated @370GPH and a sump(amiricle350) with a 350GPH flow rate. This should turn the water over about 7.7 times per hour(I assume it will be slightly less). This will be a Malawi set up and I'm still unsure of the stocking. I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks!
These were in a tank with Johanni and Auratis babies and I grabbed a few because they looked so good but I cant remember what they are.
Thanks for the help.
Wow, I was at my moms house today and I found the exact same model packed away in one of my boxes that I stashed there during a divorce. So I am in the middle of setting up a new Malawi tank and I thought I would throw it in while my new background is soaking. Anyway, (1)yes it is submersible...
I have kept and even bred fish for over 20 years but I am a noob when it comes to African RLCs. Well I am ready to take the plunge, I will be starting out with a 46gal bowfront which I have just installed a DIY 3D background on.
I know this tank is a bit small but I will eventually be moving...
Hello,
I just tried my hand at a 3D background (foam/cement) It came out really cool and I was wondering how long I can expect this to last? I was also wondering if the resin or drylock paint method was better.
I think these backgrounds make the tanks look very realistic but don't have a...
