I read that the rainbow fish will school with other groups, if only a pair is introduced?
Was that false info? They do seem to school a bit with the harlequins?
We have just moved our bearded dragon to another room, so now we have a large space for a big tank. I'm going to save up for a...
Thanks for the info :D it is greatly appreciated.
I will try to find prime here in Ireland, but I am sure they don't stock it anywhere accessible to me, if not I will try to get it online :)

Here's an update from yesterday...
My ram died :( I dont know why, either does the LFS.?
Our water seemed good for him, low ph and tested good in the shop?
I think he had a swim bladder issue because it was as if he kept sinking, he had no bright colouring either when we bought him, I reckon he...
Forgot to say as well the ammonia is a separate test kit and it is the nutrafin liquid test. I will buy the liquid tests for the rest on Monday. They are expensive here, 50 euro!

Thanks for the help.
I think the tank is still in its first cycle. Only had it 3 weeks now.
I did the 50% change and I will do the next tomorrow as well. I have api stress coat which says it is a tap water conditioner so I used that.
I didn't use my moms water, I had thought it would help...

I have just had the same problem in my tank. I used a magnet for the sides and a toothbrush straight out of the packet to rub it off the heater and silk leaves.

My new betta seems to get along just fine with my neon blue dwarf gourami.? The gourami was curious at the start but didnt go close enough to nip him. Since that they are just happily swimming in close proximity to each other. :)

When i was a child my mothers friend used to use seawater. She collected it in a bucket everyweek. I dont remember if she did anything to it before adding to the tank but she deffinatly collected buckets of it.

So we went to pick up my German blue ram which they ordered for me as a centre piece fish.
He has done quite a lot of hiding but does come out to explore a bit occasionally. I've called him bam bam :) He's not very blue though? Same with the gourami when we got him, so hopefully he will...

Thanks for all the help and compliments.
Great news! We have 2 babies! After just 1 week of owning a fish tank! :D
They are half a cm long now, I have no idea if they were bred in the tank or may a fish have been already pregnant when I bought them in the shop?
I'm just thinking about the...
Whoops forgot to add the pic which shows the large silk plastic plant and also how dark the java moss has turned?
And just spotted this minute, 5 micro tiny tiny weeny snails I'm guessing they hitchhiked in on the moss, will these over run the tank? They are way too tiny to capture on the...
Just a bit of an update, I have decided to scrap the planted tank idea, until the future when I have a bit more knowledge and € to spend on proper plant set ups.
So since I last posted we have done a re-arrange and added our first fish who all seem really happy and active. Took my...
We got the tetras on Monday. Since, they seem to be chasing each other quite viciously and sort of dancing in pairs, swimming around the other fish in tight circles.
Today we noticed one of the tetras had a bulging belly. So were they mating and the fish is pregnant? Or the tetra has eaten too...
Wow your tank is really nice. I hope in the future, when I have more experience in fish keeping, to have a marine tank too :)
