Thanks constevens. Thankfully the seller is refunding me. I wouldn't have minded if the plant died off a little after hitting my tank, but I don't think it's right for me to buy plants and have half arrive dead, whether it's the sellers fault or not and its just a fluke. I've separated some of...
Ooh that'd be good. I do have a heater even though my tank is coldwater, as it can get quite cold in the UK. A sump sounds good, as I can have lots of filtration options hidden out of the way.
Am I right in thinking that it has to be partnered with an overflow? I know you can have a simple...
As I just have a regular old power filter in at the moment I'm not familiar with all these terms, so...
Does an overflow have to be at tank level? As that would kind of defeat the point of having a hidden filtration system, what with it being visible at the back of the tank.
A sump is just...
Hi guys.
I have had fish for about two years now, and as soon as money allows I will be upgrading their tank. My aim is to have a really nice aquascape (as nice as I can get it with the all-consuming fantails I have!). To that end, I would like to have a really good filtration system that is...
Your hornworts are absolutely beautiful! Thank you for the offer, it is so kind! But I'm in the UK so postage would be astronomical and I doubt your beautiful offcuts would survive :(
AXio - thanks. I'm going to ask the seller for a refund, and buy some more from a more reputable person I...
Okay, update:
The light is a 240 Volt, 50 Hertz, 20 Watt. It's a 3-foot tank.
Here's a pic of one of the sunken pieces, which roughly shows how brown and un-hornwortly it looks!
Does that mean Wattage Per Gallon? If so I don't know how to tell - we inherited the tank including the lid and light. I checked the bulb but couldn't see any markings to tell me what wattage it is :( It's the kind that's integrated into the lid - a long cylindrical tube bulb.
I'm already thinking twice about this seller! The dead-looking parts are already broken apart from the more lively looking stuff. By my description, do you think it's dead? I don't know how to tell. I don't have any fertilizer and I have some sick fish at the mo so I don't want to add anything...
Hi guys.
Yesterday some Hornwort arrived that I'd bought from ebay. It arrived in a plastic bag with very little water (as if it'd just been taken out of a tank and put in the bag with no extra water, just whatever dripped off it), and immediately I could see that the bit towards the top of the...
It's a very lovely idea, but I see some very large practicality problems with the fact that the power goes on and off - you can't have a tropical tank with power that does that as more than a couple of degrees variation in temp and fish get stressed... too low temp or too high for too long and...
Jannika - the label says it is a treatment for swim bladder problems. It's by Interpret.
Braglgt21 - I already have the meds from another time (i don't think I actually used them when I bought them though) and their used-by date is in september, so I don't mind dosing the whole tank, I just...
Thanks Dougall :) As far as my situation rather than OP's goes, I was jealous as I want to upgrade my current coldwater tank to a bigger, better, planted one. You're right about the light and filter being an extra cost, but it's the same with a lot of the second hand $78 tanks around at the mo...
lol I just realised I asked about something I put down -_- Sorry The V, I realise what Echinoduras sp is now - that'll teach me to copy and paste!
Thanks FrenchFry that's great :)
Thanks The V, is there a common name for Echinoduras sp?
I will bear in mind the molly fact. At the moment he or she is fine and isn't being agressive. If anything my fantails like to pick on him/her, but the molly has places to hide and it doesn't happen often.
Thanks fshfanatic, will this...
I know that not all of you have fish in your tanks and most will probably not have goldfish, but I thought you guys would probably know the answer to this.
I need to get new live plants for my tank to bring down some nitrates. What process do I have to go through to prepare the new plant for...
Two of my fish are having a bit of problem with swim bladder. One may just have constipation this morning but the other has been going back and forth from fine to sunken over the last three days. They've been starved, they'll all be getting peas tonight and I've tested the water: everything fine...
Hey guys just an update. I did a 50% change today, and the nitrates didn't come down that much. The test was either 25 or 50 mg/l. I decided to test my tap water and it was around 25 too. I guess I'm going to have to get more plants if my water is starting out with nitrates that high. Off to...
