I realize this thread is old but will respond anyways. Yes its possible for them to breed but no its not possible for them to have viable fry. South American Cichlids can't successfully hybridize outside their genus except for Festae. All Central American Cichlids can however.- Chrisplosion

Convict and Salvini?
Any Central American Cichlid can hybrid with another. The Convict end of it had been done to death but I have seen a couple nice Salvini hybrids.- Chrisplosion
