Angelfish female before and after laying eggs

I have a new breeding pair of Angelfish.....first time parents. In the last month they have had 2 batches of eggs. Neither batch led to the successful rearing of babies. When the fry begin to detach and swim around freely, the parents try to keep them rounded-up, but they haven't had any long...

    Need help ID'ing this fish

Here is a link to the video. The Facebook upload degraded the quality, but it may be helpful. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=347076025403793&set=vb.100003041945689&type=2&theater

    Need help ID'ing this fish

Hi, I need help identifying this fish. He/she was left in an office aquarium of an employee who is no longer working here. Now it is my responsibility. There is another of the same type, about half his size. This one is about 3 inches, very territorial, and nips at my hand when I clean-up...

    Please help!!!

Makail, Goldfish are happier in a colder environment. All fish are happy with a stable temperature though. Fluctuating 5 degrees every night is a bit extremem.... but the location of your thermometer may be showing an inaccurate temp change. Try to stabilize the temp if you can.

    Tropical community compatibility question

My school of barbs would be way too aggressive for neons as roomates. Their body mass also is quite a bit more than neons, so they would be tough bullies. My neon tankmates are: zebra danios, swordtails, guppies, harlequin rasboras, cory cats, and glow-light tetras.

    I Had A Housemate...What would you do?

If there is no rental agreement on file, then there is no proof that he gave a deposit either. I don't think a court would side with anyone here.

    My Crazy Cat

I have a couple cats that will eat sinking spirulina pellets..... and even the large seaweed salad flakes. The seaweed salad is fun, since my pleco eats it right out of my hand now. Kinda weirded me out at first, but... his mouth is really very soft. :yuck:

    Tiger barbs

Fascinating. They do eat like pigs, so I guess digestion is an issue. :werd: You should see them attack a tubifex cube. I have some artificial plants with small leaves in with them and when they go vertical their stripes are horizontal. They are almost invisible in the plants.

Ask a stupid question, Get a stupid answer

It doesn't matter, no one was around to hear it anyways. If a man's wife is not around, is he still wrong all the time?

    Full tank shots

I see two pipes...... one on either end. Look like HOB filters.

    Tiger barbs

My tiger barbs are too precocious. I don't think danios, mollies, or swordtails would fare too well with them. As other people said, the tigers are fascinating to watch. Perpetual motion until the lights go out. When they sleep, they all face down.... strange, but neat. I think its a...

Lighting question and I dont know anything LOL

You can put two of these (24-inch) on your 55g aquarium. I've had one on my 38g for a few years and the lighting is beautiful. The price is pretty good too, considering 55/65watt CFL is quite lot of power. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3733+9654+3773&pcatid=3773...

    Aquaclear Size Question

Nope, no CO2 injection. I assumed the normal fish waste created a good amount of CO2/ nutrients that was now being absorbed by the plants instead of being gassed off by evaporation. Sorry to hijack your thread quake. This issue has been my only contention against AC filters.... but I have...

    Aquaclear Size Question

I have a 38g tank with 2 Amazon Swords. They were absolutely anemic with an AC50. I changed to a tight fitting cover & cannister filter. The swords really perked up after that & the 1-inch/ week water evaporation stopped completely. I assumed the evaporation & surface agitation was letting...

    Aquaclear Size Question

I'd go with two AC50's. Maybe you can put one on each end to create better water movement. Also, keep in mind, a cannister filter is better if you ever plan on growing live plants in this tank. Most cannisters don't disturb the water surface....... AC's disturb the surface quite a bit.

    Cloudy (whiteish) aquarium water

Just curious, are you sure the tank is cycled? Only 3-4 water changes tells me this is a very young tank.

Swordtail keeps nipping at my apple snail

Typically, livebearers need to be kept at a 3:1 female:male ratio. This keeps a lone female from being overly harassed by the male. ....which causes her stress. I didn't mean to infer that this could change their eating habits, but....... similar to any schooling fish, when they are not in...

    Strange Ammonia Problem?

My experience with small betta bowls is... its easier just to change the water every couple days than try to establish the nitrogen cycle. My bettas were happy enough swimming into a small glass for a few minutes while their water was changed 100% every 2-3 days. No need to really worry about...

I know I said I wouldn't do this but was desperate

Just curious.... if you keep a small filter always running on an established tank to use in your QT, do you trash the media in the small filter before putting it back in the big tank? I wouldn't think you'd ever want that media back in contact with the established tank.
