If youre *really* worried about your eel starving, you could always target feed with a turkey baster or something similar. Good way to do this (this is how I feed carnivorous bottom-dwellers):
I buy the frozen stuff. Brine shrimp, blood worms, etc. Defrost the food in a little cup with tank...
Your betta will be very happy in a 10gal, you can find those very cheap if you look around a bit.
As for plants, bettas will enjoy things to hide behind. Planting your tank can be more taxing than the fish themselves, so if you don't feel comfortable get some fake stuff to decorate with.
yeah I'm still hoping this is a joke.
your fish are not happy, I assure you of this. Alot of LFSs will give you instore credit for fish you bring to them.
I think most online stores that send fish do it with medium-sized styrofoam containers. I would bag the fish and THEN put it into the styrofoam container, keeping containers as large as possible... also I wouldnt put more than one fish in a container. And this is a given, be sure to get the...
There's really no way to tell from across the internet. If it bothers your fish, i.e. you notice your fish getting knocked around or having to struggle with the current, than its too much. You can displace the current with plants, fake plants, whatever. That could help.
As Ems said, I think he is definitely stressed. Maybe because of the level fluctuations... I don't know. I really don't think the ADFs are the cause if they are well fed, they'd have to nip a whole lot to cause some ripped fins. If your betta is stressed because of the water parameters, maybe...
What were the exact levels in the water.
Also, ADFs do nip fins but its not really that bad. They see motion, give it a poke and usually move on when it doesn't taste right or fit in their mouths. Ive never seen damage as a result, but if your betta is weakened for some reason than that could...
I would say that it could be rare that they grow to muturity because many people stunt their growth unknowingly due to information coming from the misleading LFSs.
That was bitter. I'm sorry to have a bad attitude, but it is hard not to about this type of thing. When I'm at the LFS, I hear...
Oh yeah goldfish are messy. So messy.
I was at the LFS today looking at the appaling feeder goldfish tank with about 100 goldfish in no more than 40 gallons. I watched three die right in front of me in about ten minutes. Disgusting on so many levels.
i would donate body parts for a tank that big.
just a question for the pacu tank person: how do you maintenance the bottom of the tank. I think I've seen a pic of it before (monster of a pacu swimming, very dim with man standing off to left side).. thats your guys' tank, right?
i'd hate to...
Dont know what else to tell you...
I think I saw that you have a ten gallon with your adfs and a betta in it already? If this is the case, everything should be fine. Your betta should be ok in that 2.5 gallon (okay doesnt really mean happy though, but alot of people swear bettas enjoy small...
Cories are endlessly interesting fish. Maybe he thinks he's a pleco :).
It's really good that your pleco is not fighting with the cories. How big is he so far? If you just got him I'm willing to bet he's not much bigger than the cories. Problems could still arise later...
LFSs are a...
So it sounds like he likes the frogs. A good starting point. (How can anyone not adore them?)
Show him
Leopardess's Great ADF article. She knows her stuff, from what I can tell, and says that ADFs need at least double your tank. Not to mention the betta. So maybe this information, stated in...
