    water changes.....

PYTHON & PRIME ALL THE WAY BABY!! Works very well for me. The way I lok at it is that I NEED to make my tank care just as EASY & with as little labor intensity as I possibly can and that way It can be something that I won't dread doing or stop keeping fish b/c of how hard & time...

    freeze dried foods

Really, as far as how nutrituous it is, it has some nutrition & if you use it in a list of other sources of nutrition for your fish, it is a GREAT addition.

Stocking question for a 460 gallon

:omg: A 460????:thm: :22_yikes: WOW!!!:bowing::hearts: :perv: Got absolutely NO ideas of what to put in it,... ( I am in love w/ Frontosas, so I would most likely have a tank full of them were I you) ....but I mainly want to say CONGRATZ & that you are one lucky...

    NOOB MISTAKE!

I'm sorry ew, but you got some bad guidance on the fish that you purchased. Were I you I'd take every one of them back & start out with fish that won't get so large in the longrun ( AND BY "LONGRUN" I DON'T MEAN THAT LONG...) Whomever it was that said that the arowana would need a 500 gallon...

    water changes.... a silly question

PYTHON all the way!!! It takes the water out & when you close the valve, it puts the water back in & I use PRIME to instantly take the chloramines out. DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER, even though over the years you get technical difficulties with the Python, it is better than the luggin' the bucket &...

    Filter question... which is better?

Yeah I thik that I 'd go w/ the Aquaclear (or any of the other HOB type filters ) & my rationalization for that would be pretty much what others have said in that it's a turtle tank & having an abundance of oxygen in the water would not be as much of a priority, as space for that tank, that the...

    Thoughts?

And the very longstanding debate goes on........ ljx

Hi... My name is Kate and I am addicted to Fish

Been a hobbyist for over 20 tears now & I'm just as addicted to fish as I was when I first started. That doesn't go away. What happens is you get more into the addiction & hit the multiple tank syndrome & then at siome point you level out (sooner for some than others!) CONGRATZ & WELCOME TO...

    Guppie BABIES!!! :D

 Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!! This struck me as sooo funny b/c it's exactly what I was thinking & just the way I remember it!! Just as soon as I was HAPPY for the first 5 or 6, the other 35 came on almost no time flat from other females & then in short order the female that gave me the first...

    Lost my cories

As gross as that sounds, lol yes they do if they are under fed for an extended period of time, they may do that to feed on the slimecoat of other fish. :silly:

    Lost my cories

I have had these exact thing happen with Panda Cories & have found that they were sucked into the intake of my filtration, after looking for them & being baffled for some time. Don't know if that could be a possibility, but thought I'd throw it out there. ljx

    Which would you choose?

:thm: No truer words have been spoken. At some point with either option, if the pleco comes along, & is healthy, you will have to upgrade to house it. ljx

you can pick 1 cichlid what species?

Guess I'm stuck on Frontosas for life. They are always intriguing to me. And if I didn't/couldn't choose Fronts, I'd certainly choose Steatocranus casuarius , the Buffalohead Cichlid. LJx

    Dye injection?!?!?

I'm one of those radically against dying fish & purchasing dyed fish . The fact that if I don't purchase them, that there is a better chance that this might go away, makes me feel a litle better. I just pray that enough of the rest of you feel that way. LJx

    Rummy nose tetras???

I have had rummynose tetras for 3 yers now & I agree that it's hard to find good ones, & when you don't they dir easily, but when you do & they acclimate they are hardy lil monsters & red up very intensely!

    Glass top or Not?

I have a glass top b/c it limits evaporation, it limits the wet dust bunny masses that get into that tank from the canopy top, & number one on my list, it keeps fish from jumping out, like I know they do. ljx

    ADF & Worms

They will LOVE worms, whether they are red, black, nightcrawlers, etc.... The issue that many hobbyist have with feeding your fish worms is that they CAN transfer bacteria that could be harmful to the fish. Many people raise/culture their own worms, so that they have a comfortable idea that...

    Long glass top or two?

I'd go for two totally sepaate tops. It's much easier to move around when you clean. ljx

Too many water changes a bad thing?

That small a water change a day is alright. The problem could be the mollies but the pleco can heft out a quite respectful load itself. I'd rethink the reason that I wanted the pleco. LJx
