    Pressurized CO2 in Manhattan?

These guys fill CO2 cylinders but don't sell them. I've called a bunch of welders and brewers, and none stock this. Has anybody from NYC actually bought one somewhere that they can recommend?

    Pressurized CO2 in Manhattan?

Can somebody recommend a good pressurized CO2 supplier in Manhattan?

    maronov's 20G High and 5.5G Planted Tanks

Pictures were taken with a Canon PowerShot A630. Fish and plant info is in my sig. As always, they are a work in progress (mostly waiting for some plants to grow). Hope you enjoy!

    Betta overseeing a Cory feeding

Some photos of my Betta, 'Baron' (the only fish I've nicknamed... any Betta owner knows what I mean). This is one of the more entertaining things he does - he patrols when the Corys eat their sinking pellets. He never scares them away, he just swims around, as if to see what all the fuss is about.

    flag fish

How many/what sex are they? I had 2 females and 1 female 1 male and both times they didn't play nice with my Corys.

will florida flagfish REALLY eat my stringy green hair algae?

I kept Florida Flagfish - at first 2 females and then 1 male and 1 female. They terrorized my Corys, ripped my Betta's fins to shreds, and eventually ended up back at the pet store (I also saw one of them make a snack of a red cherry shrimp). But, since they are technically shoaling fish, I...

    I would like to "downgrade"....suggestions?

Space is the bigger problem. College dorms are small...

    I would like to "downgrade"....suggestions?

That's a good idea. In fact, an acrylic tank is smart in general because it will prevent you having to replace a glass tank because you accidentally knocked it against a wall while moving... not that that's ever happened to me before :shakehead:

    I would like to "downgrade"....suggestions?

I disagree - don't take your 10G tank. I had a 5.5G in college last year and that was space-wasting enough, not to mention the headache associated with emptying/moving it back home. I recommend a 2.5G since it will fit almost anywhere (like a bookshelf) and house the betta/cherry shrimp/snail...

    Fish For A 10 gal

Not the best idea in my experience. The betta will attack them, not to mention that they stress out without females I like the betta + cory combination. My betta always swims down to investigate whenever the corys are eating their pellets... very fun to watch.

    Water clarity products (flocculents)

Yeah that's pretty much what I thought. Seems that these would temporarily (maybe for a day) remove cloudiness, only for it to return because you haven't addressed the actual cause.

    Water clarity products (flocculents)

I've seen these from many of the major aquarium product companies (Kent Pro-Clear, Seachem Clarity, etc) but I haven't heard about many people using them. Do they work? For the record I know that this shouldn't be the way to resolve cloudiness... I'm just curious.

Considering pressurized CO2 - need opinion about regulator

Just a bit of info from Rex in a PM he sent me: "To actually compare apples to apples you have to compare the exact same regulator body I'm using. I use Cornelius regulators. I think you will find they are a bit more than $40. Also if you buy from several different places you have to total the...

Considering pressurized CO2 - need opinion about regulator

I was calculating the price without the solenoid. Rex sells both a solenoid and manual regulator - $140 and $115, respectively. Made a slight mistake in including the needle valve for the manual regulator. That's $15. But one would probably get the solenoid reactor anyway.

Considering pressurized CO2 - need opinion about regulator

After shopping around the only thing that I can't understand is the price of the actual regulator. Quality CO2 regulators from brewery or welding places cost around $40... from aquarium places they cost over $100. Does seem like they are charging extra for the same product just because you are...

Considering pressurized CO2 - need opinion about regulator

What GirlieGirl8521 says combined with Rex's price tag makes that $78 model very tempting. Has anybody actually used it? If it breaks after a while it would probably be worth dishing out the extra $100 for Rex's product.

Considering pressurized CO2 - need opinion about regulator

That explains a lot. I'm glad I asked here before making an impulse buy. Thanks, UCF-Planted. When you set up the system, PM me or post on this thread - I'd like to know how well the part actually works. Rex's model is a lot more expensive after all.
