Flying Foxes also have a gold stripe running above the black one. True SAEs do not. There's actually three similar-looking fish that get sold as Flying Foxes. Many places, including my LFS, refer to SAEs as Siamese Flying Foxes (versus only Flying Foxes). I've got 5 SAEs and one False SAE...

$1 per gal is nice, but if you're crafty enough, you can usually talk most LFS into filling the tank with H2O, upon purchase, for only a couple bucks more per gallon.
