I know that coldwater fishes need a chiller to survive. Without chillers, many fishes die prematurely. Does that mean that even gars and koi and goldfish need chillers?
Now that my soapfish is in a new tank, how should I go about cleaning up the tank? Carbon was suggested, but do you think I should just throw all the water away (after all it is contaminated). What about the gravel, bioballs, filter matting/pads etc?
I have had the fish for 6 months. Ohter fishes in the tank died of other causes, like jumping into the filter (how silly) and another due to cloudy eye.Should it be best if I transferred the fish to a new tank, to eliminate the supposed causes mentioned while the fish takes time to heal itself...

I have found out on fishbase that siberian sturgeons (naturally???) have Enteric Redmouth Disease Bacterial diseases. These diseases can potentially spread to humans. Therefore, is it safe for one to raise siberian sturgeon, let alone handle one?

I know it has been said that a dourado will kill a gar in the same tank, but is there any way to prevent that? If not, would a brycon live peacefully with the gar, without the gar killing the brycon? Will the brycon/dourado hog the food such that the gar starves to death?
