As the title says.
I doubt too many know of my planted tank after all these years gone by. Well here is the next adventure that I had even more ability to let the creativity flow.
Sorry for the incredibly late response, Unfortunately not to long after my last post my wife started traveling with me and someone else took over on the water changes and minimal maintenance. Regrettably they did not care for my tank and only saw it as a job. Before i knew it the tank was...
I found a healthy balance of fish and CO2 along with a little bog above the tank a couple birds was all that was needed to have plants grow so fast i had to rip them out in hand fulls. To add all those ferts to the water is or would have been beyond crazy. A little eco system and i had no...
i bought the 600 dollar matala vac it works well but it could be stronger, oak leaves and or other firm leaves can be a challenge. but for a large pond such as mine 12,000 i didn't want to be there vacuuming all weekend
Why would you want to remove the liquid rubber? i'd say even if it is in bad shape and leaking use a belt sander or a grinder smooth out the rough edges and then apply some fabric / pond liner fabric and install a new 45 mil epdm
I find it way beyond possible for a blue tarp from loes to last 20 years under any situation. i would have to guess the pond was dug in clay and it actually was the liner. Even then don't even look in it's direction or it would fall appart
Spring is here and planning to increase the size of the water fall to the pond. or a second option of starting another planted tank. What direction would you head
Here is the latest adventure as it is taking shape. Being back on AC. reminds me of a post that someone wanted to see some of my other planted tanks be cause" no knob could create such a thing their first time around" We here' my first attempt at a pond
Small not so much
Thanks it's already been an adventure
If I must I'll keep shad or similar in the new pond something that's a bait fish so if the herons get bad I'll watch them fish and take a 50 cents fish and not a 400 dollar koi.
Here's today's photo
Here's the thread...
The fever has bit once again but this time in a much larger scale. I have moved the planted tank to the outdoors. I started on building what some call a Natural Water Garden. Its is basically a outdoor pond the size of a swimming pool with boulders and stone in the pond instead of a concrete...
Little known fact for you Most aquarium trade plants that we put submerged under water most will survive if not thrive with just the roots being kept wet
Well 2016 has brought an end to the Palladium. After traveling for business for 8 years the tank has suffered it's last. The Tank the experiment, the break the rules and nature finds a way has fought her last battle. I hope to try again some day, and see what i can come up with next !! Good...
No the bird experiment is over i have been traveling for years now and the wife has maintained the tank. While i have done the major items like filter cleanings pruning etc. The tank still remains better then anything you'll see in the average fish store. Yet it's a glimmer of her once glory...
Its a sad day! the last of the finches has passed away. He was found swimming and doing a poor job of it in the top of the aquarium. He could be seen constantly in the water fall bathing evn sleeping in a cave behind the falls but allas he just faltered at the doggie paddle and has passed away...
Hey Dun, The tank you see in the most recent photo's isn't anything but what the tank wants to be. Due to traveling and having no time the tank has evolved on it's own. And yes you are correct i do have a substrate specifically for a planted tank there is a substrate cable heater and a layer of...
