    'False' Siamese Algae eater? PICS!

For what it's worth, he became a bit of an issue and started to latch onto my Angels so I had to remove him and bring him back to the local fish store(what a pain that was!)> He was indeed a CAE and was around 6-7" when I took him out only 2-3 months later. P.S. Angels r doing great =D Good...

Opinion on "holiday feeding" in perpetuity

I feed my fish every 2-3 days, but I routinely leave them for a week or so without feeding and they are fine. Also, the smaller the tank the easier it is to unbalance things, and overfeeding or small changes especially when left unmonitored for long durations can spell dissaster IME. IMO...

I really need to KILL everything in my tank.....

I enjoy my snails, but personally if removal is the solution for you and your situation I would highly advocate a non-chemical approach. Placing lettice/zuccini is a great method (every 3-6 hrs remove and throw it away, replacing it with a new piece). If your fish enjoy the lettice place the...

    Corys?

The temp[attion will be to overfeed or inadvertantly use too much food for the tank. Being small they don't eat much, but look to see that they have nice fat little bellies :) If you overdose the food, be sure to vac up the extra after an hour or so. P.S. Mine LOVE shrimp pellets

    Can someone explain water changes?

First, there is no such thing as too much ;) Second, remember that the test kits cannot test for everything, and even though one's water might "test" okay (ie. nitrItes, NitrAtes, gH, etc.) routine water changes weekly keep up on general health and purge the tank of many undessirables such as...

    any ideas for algae eaters

Sounds like Diatoms I agree. However, I have BN, Ottos, and True SAEs and they all do well with the 'other' algea I have (unless I feed too well! ;) )

Why 6 as a minimum # for schoolers?

6 is yet another "Rule-ofThumb" that we use; however, this # varies based on fish species and size, tank size, stock or crowding, cover, use of a dither fish, etc., etc., etc...... 6 is simply a number of fish suggested to ensure that a schooling fish will not be too stressed or act too far...

    Snail Shells Milky?

Sorry for the delay here...I have been out straight both here at work and at home! GH is 14 pH 7.6 I'll try to get some pics tonight, but about 1/6th of the snails have this white/milky shell that I wouldn't describe as pitted, but the shells are not smooth and there seems to be shallow...

    Snail Shells Milky?

I have Ramshorn, and lately I have noticed that a few of mine have either developed, or were born (I have large and small snails w/ this) a very milky colored shell. It's almost like the colors are hidden underneath...? I assume that this may be a sign of poor diet, or lack of a mineral, but...

    tetras dying

Water Parameters? How did you acclimate? What type of Shrimp? How many neons did you add, and when did this start occuring after they were added? Also, the angel will very quickly outgrow the tank! The angel will also, if not already, begin to hurass both the neons and the shrimp, and...

    Boesemani Rainbow Question

WCs are definately your friend, and I certainly woudn't add any more fish until your cycle is complete... :( I would test 2x daily and be prepaired for 50+% WCs As for the Rainbow, it could be stress from the LFS/your tank environment, but it sounds like a female to me. Any way to capture a...
