I do a 50% WC once a week.
I grow plants, lots of plants...
I have no idea how many fish I have since I often can't see them to count them.
I overfeed a couple tanks so that I can produce snails.
I have a figure 8 puffer that loves snails. So much so that his tank pretty much has snail shells...
Every time I put my hand in the tank my cleaner shrimp swarms all over me looking for stuff to clean I guess. Is my dude just very industrious or do they all do this?
I've got alternatives for him if it looks like he is not going to work out. I'll rehome him before I would ever let him starve. And I KNOW how extremely lucky I am to get a less picky one.
Well, I put in my first fish last night and all seems well. A beautiful Green Mandarin Dragonet. I know I picked a bad choice of first salt water fish since they generally only eat copepods. I have a couple ten gallons now set up breeding them for him but as an experiment I tried to see if he...
Just came home to find my tank walls covered in a light brown algae and also about a million little white dots on the glass. I'm guessing these are copepods and a very good sign. Am I right?
Ok here's my 2 cents on bumblebee gobies
I have a couple that I have kept in fresh water for a year. According to my LFS they were bred and raised in FW as well. My only complaint would be that these have to be the dumbest fish I have ever seen. I have no idea how they would ever survive in...
RS you are the fastest person to reply I have ever seen! :)
The first thing I found that looked like my little buggers are amphipods. Copepods put me in the right neighborhood though. It still could be a Copepod but there are so many types it's hard to tell.
The second thing doesn't appear...
First off both of these organisms are too small to photograph successfully so I will try to describe in full.
#1 unknown
This organism is about 1/8 inch long and runs around on the bottom of the tank and the live rock. It is white/clear. It has large antennae or feelers in the front and...
My tank is 1 week 2 days into it's cycle and I am getting some kinda green hair algae growing on the tank walls. It looks like little tufts of grass. Should I just scrub this off or will that make it spread? Params are as follows:
29g bio cube
22lbs of LR and 3lbs in filter compartment (LFS...
Ok, just got my new tank and LR set up yesterday, the what has cleared and looks like everything is set to go. What can I use to clean off the inside of the glass (well acrylic actually) since the set up left some deposits on it? I'd use a paper towel but wasn't sure what is SW safe.
I just bought the skimmer for my biocube 29 that I am setting up. I've never used on and the directions are kinda vague. What level bubbles am I looking for in the skimmer? Should they be above the lip that fits in the collection cup or a little lower?
