Sounds like a sweet deal. Although hauling a setup like that would be an impressive feat but it can be done. You could probably get the tank and equipment cheaper but your paying for the livestock and LR. I think its a good buy.

Bad because filters on a SW are nitrate traps. Thats why you have 15ppm nitrate. I would suggest adding some LR for awhile and wait for that to catch up to your system. Probably about a month. Then you can totally remove the filters. I removed mine and my nitrates went from 20ppm to 0ppm in 2 days.

Not really. Look at a good headlamp. They are like $80+ for 2 LEDs and a halogen. These lights would be worth it in the long run because they would lower you electricity bill.

Is it reef or FOWLR? Reef needs 25x turnover while FOWLR needs about 10x.
