Those shrimp being sold are bee shrimp, wild imported bee shrimp. AZGardens is not a good place to buy shrimp, most will be DOA and the rest will slowly die. ALSO, ZeroJoe, that is quite a nice looking Red Cherry Shrimp in your avatar there!

    Substrate And Shrimp - Compatability?

Most planted tank substrates will work just fine. Like Msjinkzd said, just make sure you know what you are putting in your aquarium before you do it, and monitor it closely for a while after you do!

RCS clear coloring - stress/water quality induced?

That aquarium is stress inducing for Cherry Shrimp. The random colors of the substrate and the predators (and perceived predators). Cherry Shrimp coloration is affected by many things, here are a few: 1.) Genetics – a cherry shrimp can only be as red as their genetics allow. Your shrimp are...

Can ghost shrimp change their color?

Well first lets get this out of the way: Ghost Shrimp is a generic name given to many species of shrimp that look similar. Most Ghost Shrimp in North American are the American Glass Shrimp. American Glass Shrimp do not change color to match their surroundings. They stay clear most times...

I have a surprise blue shrimp!

First, no, it can not be propagated by its self. Next, it is hard to say what shrimp it is with out a picture. It could be a blue pearl shrimp: The bad news is, if you did have multiple shrimp and they did breed, the young would have a low chance of surviving in your aquarium, although if...

    bamboo shrimp question

The female will not drop the eggs they will hatch! The larva will then die in the freshwater or get eaten by whatever fish are in the aquarium with them. It is hard to say when they will hatch. With out knowing how long the female was berried before you got her and the temperature of the...

    what kind of shrimp...

But just because a shrimp is the same genus as another that does not mean they can breed together. There are many shrimp that are Caridina that can not breed with other Caridina species.

    what kind of shrimp...

Fishorama, That is incorrect. Blue Pearl Shrimp and Cherry Shrimp are NOT the same species. They are the same genus, and they can hybridize, but they are not the same species. Either way, that is not relevant because the shrimp in the pictures are not Blue Pearl Shrimp anyway. What are...

Next thing you know you are going to have hundreds of them and then some how (and I still can not explain this) your aquariums are going to multiply and they will all have shrimp in them!!!

    Cherry Shrimp

The Red Cherry Shrimp would have a hard time in that aquarium. There is a chance because it is planted, but I would not suggest it!

    Shrimp colouring

Lucky, That is the problem with Neocaridina species. They are next to impossible to identify with out a microscope and a trained eye. I will say it does look like a Neocaridina, but beyond that it is impossible to say. I would venture to guess that the offspring would be wild type in color...

    Shrimp colouring

No problem! Dwarf Shrimp have become quite a hobby for me. Who knew when I was sitting in college getting my marine bio degree talking about sharks, fish and coral that I would find a passion for these 1-2" little freshwater guys!
