Live Rock after a disaster....Need suggestions....

So we had a disaster this past summer with my 265 gallon tank and we lost everything in it. A water line busted on the floor above the tank and water leaked in through the carpet and the entire tank was lost. I still have the now dead rock that was in the tank but am not sure if there are any...

    265 Gallon FOWLR build out.

So it has been a really long time since I have updated this thread. We had a disaster over the summer and I lost the entire tank. We had a water line burst on the floor above the tank and water leaked in from the carpet above. It busted while we were at work and we came home to a basement...

    125 Gallon Living room tank

That gets back to me having to wait to get more live stock... Have not had a great chance to work on the chemistry of the tank and get the proper additives to get the coraline coverage. I am starting to work on that now and hope that is starts coming in soon.

    125 Gallon Living room tank

Just posting some pics of my 125 Gallon tank I have in the living room. Real plain right now with just live rock and a couple damsels. Will try and head to Pacific East Aquaculture, Dr. Mac's, in a couple weekends to pic up some Acro and Zoa's. I will also post new pics of my other tank in...

Well I know it has been a while since I last posted but some good news... Found the Wasp fish in the sump... Have not had a chance to get it out of there yet but should be able to do that this weekend. Hoping the dampiera made it as well.

    265 Gallon FOWLR build out.

So I have some bad news... looks like i lost most of my fish except the Blue Spot grouper. not sure why but everything checked out good with the water quality. Guess I will wait and see with the grouper. he is pretty active and is eating well.

    Grouper Question...

That is what I thought about the size of the grouper. My LFS has one right now and gets them in some times. Just wanted to make sure. I just hope the right kind of person picks him up.. I can see it now. 'oh you have a 75 gallon tank... That is plenty big enough for him'... I think he was...

    Grouper Question...

oh dimensions of the tank are about 8' X 4' X 20" high.

    Grouper Question...

I think I know the answer to this but is a 265 gallon tank to small for a Bumble Bee grouper? I remember seeing someone say that they are one of the larger groupers, not like a blue line or blue spot, and need a huge tank because they can get a few feet long. Has anyone ever had one and can...

New tank.. what to do with it?

Not knowing a ton about puffers, is there one other then the porcupine puffer that you could have in a 100 Gal tank? I know most get pretty big but figure there must be something that can fit in there... on a note about the marine terrarium here is a posting for a marine vivarium that is...

New tank.. what to do with it?

Have you thought about going the opposite of your Reef tank. Look at a predator tank with some dwarf lions, stone fish, angler, frog or toad fish... Or look at a smaller Grouper, Blue Line or spot, Miniatus with maybe a sailfin tang. I had a blue line that had a lot of personality and he was...

    265 Gallon FOWLR build out.

oh and to answer the other question yes I will have wood trim around the entire tank to finish it off. I am glad I had not done that just yet as I had a small leak that has been fixed. it has wrecked on of the corners so I will have to re-mud and paint that section before those finishing touches.

    265 Gallon FOWLR build out.

Well not to disappoint but I think I am going to just go with Painting the back black. Now one thing I have thought about is to line the back with the live rock that I have to make this look like the bottom of a rock wall. with maybe a few caves here and there that will let everyone have a...

    265 Gallon FOWLR build out.

Ok sorry for the delay in an update... As you will see the tank looks a little different then a few weeks ago. Everyone seems a lot happier in the big tank compared to the little 40's they were in... They are also getting more attention from me as they are not on the floor hidden away from...

    265 Gallon FOWLR build out.

Greg- thanks. it is not hooked up in a closed loop fashion... I will add pics tonight to show. it is running off of the sump... IMO it would be to noisy for a living room unless you can seal the stand and put in some kind of noise suppressing foam to help with the noise... The pumps have...
