actually XR-E's with the use of optics can be powerful enough to grow even the most light demanding SPS out there. you just have to group the LEDs closer together the tighter the optic is so you dont get spotlighting
i think this is a great project but i have a question. how do you plan on switching out the air in the cave because with time it will fill up with co2 from the hermit?
also i dont know how practical it would be but i think it would be cool to have a plant in the cave area although it would...
ok i bought a large CPR aquafuge from sploke and was wondering if you guys thought it would be big enough to house a n. wennerae mantis shrimp because i have one in my display that i would like to get out and id like to put it in the aquafuge until i can set up an appropriate tank for it.
the...
this is a true statement they are a peaceful fish just not towards eachother they are territorial to each other which is why you need a big system to have a group of them
i dont know the gestation period but have the eggs hatched yet?
when they do hatch are you gonna transfer them to a tank or keep them in the CD case until the colony gets larger
ok just a quick question are you sure its the water itself that is yellow and not the light making it look yellowish?
what lighting do you have and what bulbs
hhmm if you are going to use a tank for the ant farm maybe having layers of plexiglass or acrylic in the tan with decent sized holes in it so they can get to the different layers then just do a layer of dirt an inch or 2 deep then a piece of acrylic then another piece which could be siliconed in...
around here we use these guys as fishing bait lol
i was thinking about getting some of these for one of my future tanks and if for nothing else food for a mantis in the future because i can go down to the beach and collect em for free
when i was a little kid we had one of those 10g metal pots like used for deep frying turkeys. well i got it and filled it about a third of the way with dirt then digged up a few ant beds and took scoops of the ants running all over the place and dumped them in the pot. i dug pretty deep that way...
if you want to breed shrimp for food i think you should go with red cherry shrimp they are alot easier to breed and breed like guppies once they get started and they can be found all over the forums for sale because they are a great beginner ornamental shrimp but will also work for food if fed...
i like hastatus from looks but they are also incredibly hard to find as i know jinx has found out. most of the time when an importer orders "hastatus" from their lists they get habrosus which are also great looking cories and my second favorite but they arent very far behind habrosus in the...
i think with such a large tank you could have a wide variety of tangs in it. you could do a decent sized rock structure in the middle of the tank that breaks the line of site for either side and have shellies on one side of it and some sandsifters on the other. then there are tons of...
yep where else in the country can you go fishing and hook an oscar lol.
and we have a huge python problem down here with all kinds of snakes people by then let loose once they get too big
i would recommend going with a 75g because it will be ALOT easier to scape since its 6in wider than a 55g. the 12in width of a 55g will make it really hard to build nice rockwork with lots of caves
