Due to thinking about long term sustainability I think I am going to be cutting the wood down a lot in size. That way I'll be able to easily prune the plants and clean the glass if it needs it.

I've had the XP3 for a while now it and it is relatively noisy. However I haven't checked th impeller yet which could be my problem. If you put it in your stand though and have a door to shut in front of it you probably wont even hear it.

Used some krylon fusion spray paint to cover my rena intake, looks awesome. If you haven't done this yet I would strongly recommend it. What you see here is the gloss black color. Well that worked out really well. It dries almost like latex, so you can peel it off if you don't like it...

Just figured out that it's probably everything needs to be replaced. It's been over ayear and we ahve extrememly hard water so the membrane and filters are probably used up.

Eheim, for sure. Their quality of build is superb and they are super quiet. I bought a Rena Filstar XP3 and an Eheim 2026 and hands down the more superior filter has to be the Eheim.
