Deff. A pterygoplicthis sp. There are 2 considered commons which are pretty hard to tell apart. Planetcatfish.com has great profiles.

Very cool build. I agree that the guts lit up behind would make for a cool background, but then the HOBs would be in the way. Regardless, nifty idea.

I also have 3 dogs that take up a lot of time.
Stalin, 11 year old husky
Snowflake, 2 year old Belgian shepherd/Golden Retriever
And Bob ? Year old street mutt poodle (found him in a box a couple years back coming home late nite)

A silver arowana grows to 3' long. Bad idea for an 18" wide tank.
@Op, an Oscar would work out fine with maybe some clown loaches and a few silver dollars.

I'm sorry to hear about your heart attack buddy. I had one a couple years ago. The peacefulness of my tanks was a big recovery help. Just follow the docs orders and I wish you a full and speedy recovery.
I love your tank BTW.

Being summer and all, my plecs get a load of watermelon rinds. Plus all the usual pumpkin, zuch, peppers, etc...

I was away for 36 hours. When I left the plec was merrily eating 1/4 algae wafer. When I returned there was only a skull. Only other tankmate is a dwarf gourami.

Well, on a dark note, they have killed and devoured a young L144 pleco in just over a day while I was out of town....

I just finished all 8 seasons of Criminal Minds in just under 2 weeks... starting Mad Men tonight. I still have another month of holidays...

Very nice tank, I keep a 20 as well for my peaceful little fish too. It gets more attention at times than my big tanks. It's like watching a busy little village.
