Yes. That is exactly what I mean. Acrylic paint is plastic. When dryed it is almost water-proof. It depends what quality of paint you use.

If you use a good quality acrylic paint, and use it without diluting with water, you should be able to create a nice piece on the back of your aquarium without having to worry about paint being destroyed by water. It's water-resistant, being acrylic.

Just go to the petstore, ask if you can get a small bag of their filter squeezings. If they let you, just pour it in your tank. And you can also cycle your tank with a betta. The ammonia method is not going to jump start your biological filter.

I would just scoop them out and sell them to a pet store as feeder guppies.

Remember, you can always diffuse the output if you don't want strong flow! :)
