It was suggested to me to crush some of the small snails populating my planted aquarium and offer them to the fish as food.

I was wondering if this is a good idea for my fish, neons, cardinals and red phantom tetras.

I know that some fish eat snails but is wise to do so for the fish I mentioned?

Anyone know how nutritious they are as compared to say live black or red worms?

Thanks!

I smish any random nuisance snails I see and the fish always go nuts eating the bits. To me it is a live food, and therefore contains all the live enzymes and such we desire in a food.
Heck- try it once and let your fish be the judge. I'm betting they'll be really happy.

Couldn't find any nutritional info on nuisance snails, but here are the stats for apples...
