Ok... so my LFS has a website.

It's not all that great.... but it was definitely a worthwhile effort.

I design some websites here and there, etc. Would consider myself pretty good.

Anyway... I'm thinking of offering them:
  • Complete new design
  • Newsletter feature to communicate with customers
  • Photo gallery, etc
  • Perhaps a web blog for the owners to talk about stuff
  • Interactive map to find the place (a bit hidden)
  • Link section to exchange links with forums, etc
  • Allow them to show off custom sumps, tanks, etc (they are the only LFS to do this)
  • Offer assistance first month or so
All of that... in exchange for store credit. I would then offer my services 5-10 hours/month for additional store credit. I would help take pictures, maintain, etc.

Since this is store credit it definitely benefits them... as it's guaranteed that I use them and no other fish store. Additionally, they don't have to shell out any cash.

So, for setup & first month I'm thinking like $500 - $700 depending on level of difficulty. Would probably be no more than $600. After the first month, each hour I spend working on their stuff would be $15 worth of store credit/hr.

So... what does everyone think? Fair? Too fair? Too much? Or no clue? LOL

The website concept is good.
But why don't you just charge them $500 cash?
If they say no, then offer to work for store credit.
They would probably want to see your portfolio, and are you going to add them to search engines etc to optimise web traffic?

Yea... will put them in local directories, etc as well. Edit their Yahoo profile to include website, etc.
