I have a 55 gallon aquarium, and I just put a 40 watt power glo light on it. The local sales person said I should had more light, just wanted to see what everyone else thought? Thanks
is this a planted tank? if so, it still depends on the type of plants you have. typically, for a planted tank you want somewhere around 3 watts per gallon (WPG). but there are some plants that do well in lowlight tanks ~1 wpg (java ferna, java moss, anubis etc...)
if you give us more specifics, we'll be able to help you better.
well the val should do fine with your current lighting, but the rest, I beleive, will appreciate higher light levels. I'll let one of the experts chime in here to give their opinions. but for the most part, all your plants (as well as most plants) will appreciate higher WPG especially if you plan on injecting co2.
