I'm taking what I've learned over the last 4 months and building a new system. The build date was May 12th, 2007.

Specs include:
  • 29g display
  • Aquafuge (medium ~ 19x12x4)
  • 2 powerheads
  • 100 watt heater
Display contains:
  • 30 lb LR
  • 40 lb LS
  • Blastos
  • Some kind of SPS
  • Orange centered Zoos of some sort
  • 2 True Percs
  • Pygmy 'Falco' Hawkfish
Fuge contains:
  • LS
  • LR
  • Chaeto
Lighting is 4x55 watt PC (Hamilton Technology)
  • 2 6500k
  • 2 Actinic
Even though I haven't heard such good things about PC lighting, this baby is definitely lit up! Better so than my 55 with T5's.

Plans are to run skimmerless and use nothing but circulation and biology (and feeding in small increments.

First setup:

After adding Fuge on May 26th, 2007:

The water isn't really cloudy (even in the fuge), we just have the wall behind the tank painted yellow.;)

Pretty easy, actually.

If you have a good plastics store around you anywhere, you can just get a sheet of, say, 1/4 inch.

Then you order some stuff called 'Weldon4' from someplace (I can't remember the name) plastic city or plastic universe or something like that. Or maybe at the local place.

Anyway, you cut the pieces and this weldon 4 actually bonds the acrylic with super strength, and if you watch for bubbles, with no leaks.

And that's about it, a bulkhead, a few elbows and pcv pieces and a maxijet.

But, I met Jesus in Brooklyn and he sold me this one for $45 complete with Chaeto.

So, it wouldn't have been worth it. I planned to do diy, but...

it would be an excuse to get rid of my maxi-jet and get a koralia 1 for my 20 gallon.... Do you have a link to a DIY fuge using what you said, i dont want to buy a aquaclear for one if i have this maxi-jet lying around.

I'd skip the Koralia 1 and go for a 2, at least.

The 1 doesn't really even move water...at all. Might be good on a 10g, as long as it wasn't a reef tank. ;)

Isnt the 2 a bit powerful with flow from a maxi-jet and a skimmer? Its a 20 gallon tall not a long.
