green spotted puffer question

my puffer turns black on the belly in the light but a minute after the lights off its belly goes back to white. why?

its not abnormal for fishes to change colors and shades as the lights go on and off.

Thats true but with most white bellied puffers the black belly is a sign of stress.
Is the belly black all day and after the lights go out it gets totally white?
How long have you had them?

Do you have any salt in your water?
Whats your ph, and GH?

None of the Spotted puffers are true fresh water fish.

i wouldnt trust puffernet they have a lot of false info and they contradict themselfs i would use some other site

I understand that many fish change color, my ocean green discus can change his color from almost white to dark green at the blink of an eye. But white bellied puffers are different. When there bellies are nothing short of bright white it means they are stressed. I used to keep those fish and in my experience as well as what I've read dark bellies are bad.
