Was down checking out a LFS I haven't been to yet and saw this sitting there on a stand.

They said it was a Doctors Choice
Its got a Maxijet 1200
and a Rio 1700 pump

Anyone else tell me something about this thing, but for 30 bucks i think it was a decent deal, they said if im not happy bring it back within 7 days and they will refund me my money

Looks like a Turboflotor model of some sort.

the maxijet 1200 is the part that goes in the sump right?
then i need 2 hoses to go from the bottom of the black box back into the wet/dry sump correct?

I would seal it. It could get worse over time and is more then likely effecting how well it works.

sounds good, it seems like its leaking on the pipe that goes to the submersible pump that goes into the main tank.

Went ahead and put some silicone on where it was leaking from, ill let that dry and test it again.

Its fine to test this with tap water correct? im not gonna be incorporating this into my tank until i get fish in it.

heh i bought that same skimmer just a week ago for 130 bucks, without a pump!

its a turboflotor 1000 and is designed for in-sump use. (unless its a different model, but looks identical)

good buy 8) hopefully the leak subsides.
