Ok. First off, I have a buddy who has had a BP for about 3 months now. Also in the tank are a few tetras and a few mickey mouse mollies. Now, there is no male present and just 2-3 days ago the BP laid eggs? Is it possible she has been pregnant since she came from the LFS?

I thought that it may have been the mollies eggs but the BP is gaurding them with her life. Any suggestions or logic reasoning on how this has happened?

Also, without a male around, is it still possible that these eggs will hatch into fry?

They can lay eggs without a male present, but egglayers don't get pregnant. The fertilization of the eggs occurs outside the body and requires a male present when they are laid. They will be infertile eggs.

and the mollies are livebearers, which means they mate and then give birth to live baby fish, not eggs.
