Hi all,

I'm converting my freshwater rig this week. I've got my supplies in and am ready to go. BUT, before I start I just want to make sure that any freshwater bacteria that might be in my old bioballs and plumbing won't dork anything up saltwater wise. I could replace the plumbing and balls if I had too...but was thinking that since the tank, sump, and plumbing have been dry for a few months, it would be OK. Just not sure on how tough bacteria is...if it could still be alive and ready to screw things up.

R, Jamie

it is dead now so you are fine. i would clean everything though. i am using an old canister filter on my sw tank that came from a f tank. i also turned my fw tank into high BW it kills off the fw bacteria and the sw bacteria starts to colonize.
