Most of the time yes coloring to the lower gill plate indicates its female, however some males have been known to have the coloration to the lower gill plates.
I would have to say Male.
Females have a lot of splotches on the gill plates yours seems to have some spotting but it's body shape is not typical of a female. Females tend to have lighter coloration almost olive color and are more ovular shape whereas males are taller and more blunt in shape and have darker more pronounced colors.
