I saw a piece of equipment that I want really badly today....went to pick up some frags from a local guy and he had this on his 90gal reef. Amazing fixture, he said his electricity bill went down about 50 bucks a month when he switched from MH, and his SPS are still all doing great.

My only problem with those fixtures is the price.. I mean wow.. I know that in the long run they will pay for themselves due to the length of burn hours of an LED but I personally haven't been able to "offset" the price of those lights with the cost of my electricity bill. I mean that light is about 2700 bucks american and even with a 50 bucks a month in savings that would be 36 months until I would see a payout. (taking into account the savings on bulb replacement as well)

If I was building a new tank from scratch I'd definately think about it though.

You also have to think about the savings of not having to run a cooling system to cool down the tank for a all MH setup. Especially if you needed a chiller. But I agree with you, the price is horribly high. But I believe its worth it to those that can part with the cash.

Hey Grins -- I have a small Acropora samoensis. If you'd like a frag once it gets a little bigger, that wouldn't be a problem.
