I added a heater to a new tank that I am setting up. When I checked the water temperature this morning, it wasn't as warm as I want it to be, so I turned the heater up. The indicator light did not turn on. I turned it up all the way and still no light. The heater is warm to touch, so I know that it works, but apparently there is something wrong with the indicator light.

This is a used Thor 150W heater. Should I replace it?

I would. I've never heard of that brand before, but if the indicator light has stopped working, I'd be nervous about the rest of it failing at some point in the near future.

I would NOT trust that heater. For a few bucks you can have peace of mind.

There are several threads on here about favorite heater brands - just search around. I rund Visi-Therm deluxe in all mine.

That was my gut feeling as well, but I wanted to see if I was being paranoid. I've unplugged it and I will replace it. (There are no fish in the tank right now.)
