I have 3 damsels that are breathing very, very heavily. Other than that they seem to be fine...eating, chasing each other around the tank, nothing out of the ordinary except for the labored breathing. They have been in the tank for about a month and have shown no signs of trouble before now. I also have a tang which was added last week and he seems completely fine.

I just finished running all my tests again, just to make sure....

amm 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 0
phosphates 0
ph 8.4
dkh 9*
calcium 460
salinity 1.023
temp 78*

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help....

Do you have any anemones? If so, maybe they got minorly stung...or maybe they just chase eachother so much that they get tired...fish get tired too you know!

Do you have a QT tank?
If so, move them to it just in case.
It sounds like it could be the beginning stage of ich, which develops inside the gills before showing symptoms, making breathing more labouring on the fish.
