looks like it's getting close to a year now since I updated pics of this tank. It's still running strong, I've changed the filter to a Tom Dive Clean Micro filter, which I think are awesome for a tank this size. The shrimp are steadily reproducing. More slowly than they would in a larger tank I'm sure, but then again, I've removed at least 60-80 healthy adults over the last year. There are probably 30 in my cork tank alone. I've started seeing more and more of the stronger coloration that the original mother had... and have been separating out the whitest young ones into red and black tanks to concentrate that color. She got huge before passing sometime in the last month or 2. she was almost as big as my amanos. really fat. and carrying eggs 90% of the time. The oldest of her daughters are getting large now too, and have even more white than she did. I think the current oldest has just a hint of a single tiger tooth on her carapace.
The dwarf sag are doing well too, and seem to keep on growing, regardless of inconsistent light and a lot of green spot algae, that is really all over. When there's a light on, it's a 7w screw in cf, but I use it more for heat and viewing than anything, and it is not on any sort of timer. The plants rely primarily on the room's natural sunlight. I need to pull 4 or 5 plants out about once every 2 months in order to keep it swimmable.
I feed crab cuisine, algae wafers, or Ken's calcium sticks 4-5 times a week, in small amounts. In terms of maintenance, this has got to be the easiest tank ever. I change a third of the water every week and a half to two weeks, and I rinse the filter sponge once a month. I've never had a problem with waste, ammonia, or anything... it nearly takes care of itself.
