My wife and I bought some more live rock for her nano reef today. Shortly after getting it home and putting it into the water, this little thing decided to pop out of its tube. We can not get a decent picture from the side with the tube on it, and this is the best we could get from any other angle.

Does anyone have any idea what this is? Is it harmful to the tanks ecosystem? She would prefer to keep it because it is kind of pretty.

The tube runs along the outside of the rock, the other end seems to have broken (maybe there were two?) the "flower" seems to be almost pure white with small magenta spots on it. Though the picture doesn't show it, the flower... petals? seem to have a feather look to them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It's a filter feeding tube worm. It's a good thing to have.

Looks like a feather duster to me.

Thanks!

She's rather excited that we don't have to uproot it and toss it in the garbage or something, she grew rather attached in a very short time it seems.
