My tank
55 gallon /208 litre
48 ¼ 12 ¾ 20 ¾
1-54 Watts 6,700 K
1-54 Watts 18,000K
15 lbs black fluorite
15 lbs red fluorite
50lbs coarse sand/fine gravel
3 ” substrate total
4 pieces drift wood Malaysian, simmered tannins out.
HOB two spout Whisper power filter 60
one tablespoon salt per five gallon
Nufin aquaplus condition, as prescribed
Nutrifin cycle conditioner, as prescribed
No testing from tank yet.
The tank has been sitting one week temperature up to 80
No timed lighting yet.
(have rinsed white filter several times to remove sediment)
Ready, but not added yet:
Flourish: iron
Flourish Excel
Flourish Supplement
8 medium plant food pellet/puck (aquatic)
1-nutrifin yeast C02 System (20 gallon too small?)

So after all that, I am looking for crypts, anubias and java ferns at the auction. what about moss? for the wood. Is 20" of water too deep for 54 watt bulbs?
Any other suggestions for tank prep?
I was going to try to clean up the substrate tonight, vac some sediments out and had some fresh water may 50% no new salt. Rinse off the filters again
I wont have fishies until I have good plant growth. planing on a few Discuss anything that wont eat plants, ( had a bad experience with goldfish), some schoolers the little chineese pleco from the ten gallon

I might worry about the Chinese Algae Eater with Discus. I lost a couple fish to them as they eat all the algae up, then turn to eatting slime coats on other fish.

Yours might not give you any problems, but be careful!
