I want to have some marigold swortails, but unfotunately they don't sell them here... The market for this kind of hobby is small here in our country..
The only thing I can think of is to have a red swordtail breed with a marigold or sunset platy (these are the only ones readily available from the petshops around my area)... My current problem is that the red coloration is said to be a dominant trait... At best only about 50% of the fry will have the marigold color... The marigold fishes (if there would be any) that will be born from this cross breeding will be crossed back to the swordtail so that the swortail type will be strengnthed... But I know from genetics that this will only result in a brood with all red coloration...:help:
i don't like cross breeding fishes but i can't think of any other way to affix the marigold coloration to the swordtail...:help:
